Nathan Allman, founder and CEO of Ondo Finance, has died unexpectedly at 35. No cause of death was disclosed. Ondo Finance confirmed the news in a statement posted to X, describing him as a visionary whose intelligence, humility, and drive shaped every part of what the company became

Allman graduated from Brown University before joining Goldman Sachs, where he worked on the bank’s digital assets team within its Global Markets division. That role gave him something most crypto founders lacked: a firsthand understanding of why traditional finance moved so slowly.

He founded Ondo Finance in 2021 with a specific thesis. Before that, he had worked at Prospect Capital Management in alternative credit and as a partner at ChainStreet Capital, a quantitative crypto hedge fund. This experience shaped his focus on structured, yield-generating products rather than speculation. When he launched Ondo, he wasn’t guessing at what institutional finance needed. He had lived inside it.

Nathan Allman and Ondo Finance: The Vision That Changed RWA Tokenization

His vision for RWA tokenization is bringing real-world financial assets like U.S. Treasuries onto public blockchains . He has taken a traditional savings bond and made it programmable: instead of sitting in a brokerage account, it lives on a blockchain where it can be used as collateral, traded instantly, or accessed by anyone with an internet connection. That was the opening Allman saw, and he built Ondo to fill it.

Colleagues described him as technically precise but genuinely calm, a rare combination in an industry that rewards loudness. He was known for mentoring early-stage founders and showing up to regulatory conversations with the kind of seriousness that signaled he understood what was at stake beyond the token price. He was a crypto founder who thought like a builder, not a promoter.

Ondo Finance’s statement captured what many in the community immediately felt: “Nate’s brilliance, humility, and drive shaped every part of what Ondo is today. His belief in the power of technology to create a more open, accessible financial system lives on in everything we build.”

Industry leaders, including Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, and Robert Leshner, paid public tribute to Allman’s contribution to the sector’s maturation. Their responses weren’t perfunctory. They reflected something specific: Allman occupied the narrow intersection of Wall Street rigor and Web3 idealism that most people only talk about. He actually built there.

The outpouring from the broader community pointed to the same quality repeatedly. His willingness to engage seriously with people at every level, from governance forums to conversations with founders just starting out.
