Bitcoin, Ethereum and Binance Coin also fell over the week. Their declines were about 2.8%, 7.25% and 5.42%, respectively.

XRP has a market capitalization of about $86.05 billion, with 63.12 billion tokens in circulation. Its 24-hour trading volume rose more than 67% to $2.55 billion. That points to higher trading demand.

Long Traders Take the Hit

Liquidations in the derivatives market drove much of the move. Data from CoinMarketCap shows $17.97 million in XRP long positions were liquidated in 24 hours, against $1.22 million in shorts.

This created a long squeeze, where falling prices force long holders to sell. That selling can speed up a decline.

Open Interest rose 4.42% to $7.14 billion. Derivatives trading volume climbed more than 42% to $17.94 billion.

Despite the weekly drop, XRP is up 1.4% over the past 30 days. Renewed institutional demand and clearer rules in the U.S. and other major regions have supported the price.

U.S. spot XRP ETFs have recorded a net inflow of $592.95 million over seven consecutive months, according to SoSoValue. They now hold $1.55 billion.

October has been slower, though. SoSoValue data shows net inflows of around $12 million this month. If that pace holds, monthly inflows would end below $30 million, a 75% drop from September.

Analyst Amelia posted a wave-count outlook for XRP on X. She said that once XRP reaches $1.00, Sub-wave 1 would be complete, and a weekly close above $1.56 would complete Weekly Wave 2. Her Sub-wave 3 targets are $1.88, $4.10 and $7.07, with support at $1.37 and $1.29.

Standard Chartered Joins RLUSD Deal

News from Monday gave XRP a lift from its lows. Standard Chartered said it took part in a deal between Ripple and LMAX Group, an institutional trading firm. The bank will act as custodian for Ripple USD (RLUSD).

The arrangement lets LMAX customers send RLUSD to Standard Chartered. The goal is more flexibility, compliance and safety.

Waqar Chaudry, the bank’s Global Head of Digital Assets, said institutional clients want to join digital asset markets without compromising how assets are safeguarded or how risk is managed.

RLUSD now has a market cap of about $2.4 billion, according to RWA.xyz. Ripple has also been securing licenses in key jurisdictions for payments that use RLUSD.

On the XRP/USDT daily chart, price bounced off $1.32. That level matches the token’s 200-day exponential moving average. The Relative Strength Index has fallen to 40.

FXEmpire analyst Alejandro Arrieche said XRP could drop to $1.28 before resuming a climb. A loss of that level could open a move toward $1. If support holds, he sees a short-term target near $1.80, then $2.10.

XRP was trading at $1.36 on October 14, down 0.87% on the day.

XRP bounced from $1.32 on the daily chart, where the 200-day EMA sits. The RSI near 40 shows weak momentum but is not at an extreme low.

The level to watch next is $1.28. A hold there keeps the $1.80 target in view, while a break could send price toward $1.
