Super Micro Computer, Inc., SMCI
The server and AI infrastructure provider delivered adjusted earnings of $1.70 per share for its fiscal fourth quarter of 2026, representing a 7% outperformance versus the analyst consensus of $1.59. Quarterly revenue climbed to $11.12 billion, marking a 9% sequential increase, though falling marginally short of the $11.26 billion consensus due to postponements in significant customer artificial intelligence implementations.
These project delays stemmed from customer preparedness challenges involving electrical power capacity, thermal management solutions, and network infrastructure capabilities, resulting in revenue recognition shifting into the first quarter of fiscal 2027.
The metric that truly captured market attention was profitability. SMCI delivered a gross profit margin of 17.6% during the quarter, approximately 892 basis points higher than Wall Street projections.
This represents a dramatic improvement from the company’s trailing twelve-month gross margin hovering around 10.8%.
Company leadership attributed approximately 75% of the quarter-over-quarter margin expansion to advantageous customer composition and product portfolio shifts, featuring increased CPU-based server shipments and 50% of total revenue originating from Enterprise and Channel segments. The remaining 25% derived from reduced tariff expenses and lower inventory provision requirements.
Artificial intelligence solutions represented approximately 60% of fourth-quarter revenue, below historical norms. However, the company’s order backlog indicates that over 80% of prospective revenue will originate from AI-focused products.
Forward Outlook Substantially Exceeds Projections
For fiscal year 2027, SMCI provided revenue guidance spanning $65 billion to $72 billion. This forecast significantly surpasses the Wall Street consensus estimate of $54.4 billion established prior to the announcement.
For the first quarter of fiscal 2027, management projected revenue between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion compared to the analyst consensus of $12 billion. First-quarter earnings per share guidance landed at $1.01 to $1.10, well ahead of the $0.74 analyst forecast.
Management also disclosed receiving $60 billion in fresh order commitments throughout the June-ending quarter.
