Uniswap launches Permissioned Pools on v4, enabling compliant trading of tokenized stocks, funds, and securities through onchain allowlist checks.
Uniswap has launched Permissioned Pools on its v4 protocol for compliant onchain trading. The new feature will enable tokenized stocks, funds, securities, and other regulated assets. This has led to the emergence of automated market makers (AMMs) that allow approved investors to gain access to these assets.
Uniswap Launches Permissioned Pools for Regulated Assets
Permissioned Pools have been created in collaboration with several industry partners. These include Superstate, Securitize, and Dowgo. They are working together to establish infrastructure for regulated assets going to blockchain markets.

Importantly, there are no changes to regular Uniswap v4 pools. As a result, users will be able to continue using permissionless pools without interruption. In the meantime, Permissioned Pools introduce an additional way for institutions and regulated asset issuers.

The tokenized asset market is still expanding at a fast pace. In fact, it is estimated to hit $11 trillion by 2030. As such, businesses are seeking solutions that can help them meet compliance requirements and integrate blockchain.
Permissioned Pools enable issuers to directly control approved wallet lists. The protocol verifies if a wallet is authorized before a trade. So, compliance is automatic at the protocol level, not by external systems.
This is not like many solutions available. Compliance checks were previously done via websites or centralized services. But Uniswap’s new model has those checks right in the trading pool itself.
Once verified, eligible investors will be able to trade approved assets onchain. Meanwhile, issuers have control over who can access their regulated products. Thus, the system is designed to be accessible while meeting regulatory requirements.
Uniswap Partners Push Tokenized Finance Forward
Permissioned Pools are built with Uniswap v4 hooks to provide new functionality. These hooks run before swaps and liquidity actions to check the allowlist status. In addition, they provide administrative controls for regulated assets.
Uniswap uses virtual accounting technology behind the scenes to perform exchange calculations. In the meantime, permissioned assets continue to be stored in dedicated contracts. Consequently, the system maintains security and meets institutional needs.
Superstate contributed to the design of standards for tokenized funds and equities. Similarly, Securitize partnered with Uniswap Labs to facilitate compliant trading of DS Protocol assets. Dowgo also provided ERC-3643 integration for the new pools.
In addition, Dowgo will rely on Permissioned Pools after obtaining permission under the European Union’s DLT Pilot Regime. This may help to open up regulated blockchain markets in Europe in the future.
Uniswap stated that tokenization needs market infrastructure that is compliant and does not stifle innovation. The company, therefore, considers Permissioned Pools to be a significant milestone in the path towards wider adoption of tokenized assets.
In the meantime, Uniswap’s native token, UNI, has been holding up well amidst the recent market volatility. According to CoinGecko, the token has been trading in a narrow range around the top of its multi-month range since it bottomed out at around $2.35 in June.
Now, the market is waiting to see if UNI can clear the $4.20 resistance level. The launch of Permissioned Pools is another milestone in the Uniswap ecosystem, though the price move is still unknown.
In conclusion, Permissioned Pools set a new benchmark for compliant decentralized trading. With more assets going on-chain, the need for infrastructure to support regulation and accessibility will grow. As a result, Uniswap’s new release might be a game-changer in the realm of tokenized finance.
