The Air Force Falcons will wear a special uniform at the upcoming Air Power Legacy Series football match up with the U.S. Naval Academy. The uniform will honor the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider.

The United States Air Force Academy’s football team will wear a special “alternative” uniform for the 10th annual Air Power Legacy Series (APLS) when the Air Force Falcons meet the Navy Midshipmen on October 3. The uniform will honor the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider, the Air Force’s new stealth bomber and the world’s first “sixth-generation” combat aircraft.
According to the aerospace firm, the uniform draws inspiration from the B-21’s distinctive shape, stealth, and advanced technology.
“There’s something powerful about seeing the future of American airpower represented on the uniforms of cadets who are themselves the future of our Air Force,” said Tom Jones, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems. “The B-21 Raider is designed to evolve and stay ahead of future threats, giving our Airmen a decisive advantage against any adversary. As we accelerate production to deliver this warfighting capability, these uniforms celebrate the partnership between Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Air Force in support of the B-21 and its critical mission.”
The B-21 Raider is named for the 80 men and 16 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, led by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle, who took part in the famed raid over Tokyo on April 18, 1942.
The Navy Midshipmen will wear their standard uniform and have yet to announce the special design for the famed Army-Navy game, which will be held on December 12, 2026. Last year, both the teams honored their 250th anniversaries.
U.S. Space Force Debuts New Ceremonial Uniform
Last Saturday at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., the United States Space Force Honor Guard unveiled its new ceremonial service dress uniform, which was designed to replace the modified U.S. Air Force service uniform Space Force Guardians have worn since the branch was first established in 2019.
“The public will now be able to immediately recognize us as Guardians and key members of America’s warfighting capabilities,” said Chief Master Sgt: Ross Koehler, senior enlisted leader for the USSF Honor Guard.

The new Space Force ceremonial uniform was created to preserve the “core identity of the Space Force.” It features colors from the Space Force’s service flag, its Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform name tape and its Class A uniform.
“Having a dedicated ceremonial uniform ensures that our Guardians present a unified, unmistakable presence during high-visibility global missions,” added Koehler. “The updated uniform reflects the force’s evolving individual culture and pride in those who wear it.”
Although similar to the standard service dress uniform, which was introduced last year, the ceremonial uniform is meant to stand out with a distinct Space Force blue belt, cap and rope over the left shoulder. Guidance for the new ceremonial uniform was released in January, but it took a full eight months for the Space Force Honor Guard to make the finishing touches.
“We have had a lot of firsts here,” said Spc. 3 Amelia Olsen, ceremonial guardsman with the USSF Honor Guard. “But this debut feels extra special because it lays out the foundation for us going forward, and I’m honored to be a part of this moment in history.”
The U.S. Space Force Honor Guard was one of several ceremonial units present at the Freedom 250 IndyCar Grand Prix. It was joined by the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard, the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard.” In addition, the U.S. Air Force Band, the U.S. Coast Guard Band, the U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps, the U.S. Army Fife and Drum Corps, and the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets performed on the track as part of the pre-race ceremonies.
