What to know:

  • The bank disclosed holdings of 1,700 units of Volatility Shares XRP ETF and 100 units of Grayscale GXRP ETF.
  • XRP ETFs are seeing rising demand, with $31.8M in weekly inflows and $1.41B in total inflows so far.

Morgan Stanley, one of the world’s largest banks with approximately $7.4 trillion in assets under management, has made some subtle moves by exposing themselves to XRP ETF products in their most recent filing. Although the exposure is modest, the news has drawn attention due to increasing interest in XRP ETF products.

Morgan Stanley Reveals XRP ETF Holdings in SEC Filing

As mentioned by Morgan Stanley in its Q1 2026 13F report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, it has two holdings in the XRP ETF.

The bank had holdings of 1,700 units of the Volatility Shares XRP ETF and 100 units of the Grayscale XRP ETF (GXRP). Although these holdings are insignificant when contrasted against those of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, they still illustrate the fact that XRP ETF holdings are beginning to enter the portfolio of large institutions.

Despite its relatively small scale, this step is significant since it shows an early adoption of XRP ETF by leading financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley.

The current market statistics reveal an increasing popularity for the use of XRP ETF funds. Indeed, just during the past week, XRP-based ETFs have earned more than $31.8 million in net asset flows.

On May 28, the XRP ETF witnessed an additional gain of $1.77 million within the span of a day, while on the other hand, the Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs witnessed outflows on the same day. The entire daily inflow was achieved by the XRP ETF of Bitwise.

Morgan Stanley Delays XRP ETF Plans

Even though Morgan Stanley is currently invested in an XRP ETF, it has yet to apply for its own XRP ETF. The financial services provider has acknowledged the potential of using Ripple’s network over regular cross-border payments, but it’s being cautious.

Instead of issuing an XRP ETF, the company is now providing its clients with the opportunity to gain exposure using existing ETFs tracking the XRP token price rather than dealing with digital currencies and private keys directly.

For now, Morgan Stanley seems to be concentrating on more conventional cryptocurrency-related investment opportunities until it receives better clarity on regulations regarding its XRP ETF approach.

Market Outlook

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $1.32 with a 24-hour volume of $2.78 billion and has a market capitalization of $82.08 billion. The price of XRP went up by 0.50% over the last 24 hours.

Despite the negligible change in price action, the continued uptick in usage for the XRP ETF indicates that institutional adoption is slowly taking place. The increased use of XRP ETF products by institutions such as Morgan Stanley indicates that there is still much adoption left.
