XRP Price Prediction: Bull Threshold Missed as Bears Hold Price Below $1.32

The Coin Edition Condition That Wasn’t Cleared

Writing on October 14, Parshwa Turakhiya at Coin Edition argued that XRP could rally toward $1.40 and then $1.60, but only if the token held above $1.3619 — the level identified as the key structural threshold for a bullish October 15 setup. That condition was not satisfied. XRP is now trading at $1.30 on Binance spot, roughly nine cents below the trigger price, with the $1.40 and $1.60 targets consequently out of play under the same analytical framework. The forecast is not wrong on its own terms — it was explicitly conditional — but traders who anchored to that scenario need to reset the map.

A Chart Sitting Below Every Meaningful Average

The moving average structure is uniformly bearish above current price. The 7-day SMA sits at $1.33, the 20-day at $1.41, the 50-day at $1.42, the 12-period EMA at $1.36, and the 26-period EMA at $1.39. Every one of these sits above the $1.30 spot price, meaning short, medium, and intermediate trend lines are all functioning as overhead resistance rather than support. The sole exception is the 200-day SMA at $1.28, which sits just below current price and represents the last moving-average floor before the $1.25–$1.27 support band. A clean daily close beneath it would extend the deterioration across all timeframes.

The 24-hour trading range of $1.27–$1.31, sourced from Binance spot data, confirms the session was confined to a narrow band. The day’s high of $1.31 fell one cent short of the immediate resistance at $1.32, meaning price never got close enough to that level to draw a seller response — the resistance was simply not reached. The session low of $1.27 touched immediate support directly, underscoring that downside pressure was more active across the day than any recovery attempt.

Momentum Indicators: Oversold Readings Without a Confirmed Floor

The Bollinger Band picture reinforces the bearish posture. With the %B reading at 0.1178, XRP is compressing against the lower band at $1.26, well below the middle band at $1.41. A %B below 0.20 indicates price is in the lower quartile of the recent range, which can precede mean-reversion bounces but does not, by itself, confirm one. The upper band at $1.57 aligns closely with Coin Edition’s $1.60 target, illustrating how much ground would need to be recovered for the bullish thesis to reassert itself.

The 14-period daily RSI is at 35.12, approaching but not yet at the conventional 30 oversold threshold. The Stochastic oscillator is more extreme: %K at 10.08 and %D at 8.06 both sit deep in oversold territory below 20, a reading that historically corresponds to exhausted selling but requires a crossover of %K above %D and, ideally, a move back above 20 before it carries actionable weight. Neither condition has been met based on the supplied data.

The MACD and its signal line have converged to an identical reading of -0.0358, producing a histogram of exactly 0.0000. This convergence signals that bearish momentum has stalled at current levels, but a stall is not a reversal. The MACD remains in negative territory, meaning the downward pressure since the prior swing high has not been neutralised — it has merely stopped accelerating.

Derivatives: Positioned Long, Executing Short

Binance futures data observed at 07:00 UTC on October 18 reveals a notable internal divergence. Among Binance global accounts, 74.2% are positioned long against 25.8% short, producing a ratio of 2.87. Among Binance top-trader accounts, the long skew is even more pronounced at 77.5% long versus 22.5% short, with a ratio of 3.44. These ratios describe the net positioning of accounts within those specific Binance cohorts and should not be extrapolated to broader market participants or institutional flows.

What complicates the picture is the taker buy/sell ratio, which at 0.8709 shows that aggressive sell orders — market orders hitting the bid — are outpacing aggressive buy orders, with sell volume running at 4,408,185 contracts against buy volume of 3,838,945 in the same one-hour window. While a large majority of Binance accounts hold long positions, the active, price-moving flow at the point of execution is seller-dominated. Existing longs are being held, but they are not being reinforced by fresh aggressive buying.

Open interest stands at approximately $402 million in notional value and edged 1.31% higher in the last 24 hours even as price fell. Rising open interest alongside declining price can reflect new short positions being opened or underwater longs persisting without capitulating — the data alone cannot distinguish between them. The funding rate at -0.0040% per eight-hour settlement is described as neutral in the supplied data, marginally favouring short positioning but not to a degree that signals strong directional conviction. The ATR(14) of $0.06 reflects a compressed daily range, consistent with the narrow 24-hour band observed in spot.

Levels That Determine the Near-Term Structure

The immediate picture hinges on whether $1.27 holds. That is the first named support in the supplied data, with strong support at $1.25 and the lower Bollinger Band at $1.26 clustered just beneath it. A sustained break below $1.25 would strip away the last short-term floor before the next significant test lower.

On the upside, the path back toward the Coin Edition scenario requires sequential reclamation: first the immediate resistance at $1.32, then the strong resistance at $1.33, and ultimately a confirmed hold above $1.3619 to reopen the $1.40 and $1.60 targets as articulated in that October 14 analysis. Each of those levels sits above current price, and each represents a potential rejection point given the overhead weight from the SMA cluster between $1.33 and $1.42.

The pivot point at $1.29 — just below the current $1.30 print — is worth watching intraday. A sustained drift below the pivot would technically confirm that bears retain session control, while a recovery and hold above it would at least neutralise the immediate downward bias without reversing it.
