GitHub has unveiled a new feature in its Copilot app that automates the triage of Dependabot pull requests. This addition allows developers to offload repetitive tasks like sorting library updates by risk and verifying CI (continuous integration) status, freeing up time for more complex work.
Dependabot, GitHub’s tool for automating dependency updates, often generates multiple pull requests when new vulnerabilities or version updates are detected. While essential for maintaining secure and up-to-date projects, managing these pull requests can become a tedious chore, especially for large repositories. The GitHub Copilot app now offers a way to streamline this process by automating the initial review stage.
How It Works
Using natural language prompts, developers can configure Copilot to analyze pull requests, identify safe updates, and group them by risk level.
