With the aim of introducing regulated perpetual futures contracts in the United States, Hyperliquid announced this Monday that it is partnering with Kraken’s parent company, Payward. The platform’s official statement confirms that Payward will be its first implementer under CFTC regulations, operating through the permissioned HIP-3* framework.
This alliance represents a strategic bridge between decentralized finance (DeFi) and the US institutional framework. By serving as a neutral infrastructure layer while Payward assumes operational and compliance responsibilities, the initiative aims to open the perpetual derivatives market to onshore investors under federal supervision, overcoming historical access restrictions in the North American jurisdiction.
Despite this formal backing, the final rollout does not yet have an official launch date or CFTC regulatory approval, while the community awaits the activation of HIP-3* on mainnet.
