Circle Internet Group Stock Gains After Chelsea Deal

Circle will become Chelsea FC’s principal partner and official front-of-shirt sponsor under the new agreement. The partnership will cover Chelsea’s men’s, women’s, and academy teams throughout the 2026/27 season. The company will place Circle and USDC branding prominently across all three shirt categories.

Chelsea will debut the new shirt during Sunday’s Premier League home match against Brighton and Hove Albion. The launch gives Circle immediate exposure across television, digital platforms, retail channels, and global fan communities. The agreement also ends Chelsea’s three-year period without a permanent front-of-shirt sponsor.

Financial terms remain undisclosed, although earlier reports placed Chelsea’s annual sponsorship target near £65 million. That figure equals roughly $88.3 million based on the cited estimate. However, neither Circle nor Chelsea has confirmed the final commercial value of the agreement.

USDC Expands Global Visibility Through Premier League Exposure

The partnership gives USDC a major consumer-facing platform as stablecoin adoption continues expanding across global markets. USDC remains the world’s second-largest dollar-pegged stablecoin and represents a significant share of total supply. Its circulation currently stands near $73.9 billion, after adding about $1 billion during the past week.

Total dollar stablecoin supply stands around $292.2 billion, according to data cited in the announcement coverage. Tether’s USDT leads the market with about $183.3 billion, representing roughly 62.7% of supply. USDC holds about 25.3%, giving Circle a strong position behind the market leader.

Circle has built USDC around faster digital payments and round-the-clock settlement across blockchain networks. The Chelsea agreement extends that strategy beyond financial markets and into mainstream sports sponsorship. As a result, USDC gains visibility among football audiences that may have limited exposure to stablecoin products.

Circle Partnership Adds Regulatory and Industry Context

The Chelsea deal also arrives during tighter scrutiny of cryptocurrency marketing across the United Kingdom. The Financial Conduct Authority warned Premier League clubs about partnerships involving unauthorized crypto firms in June. The regulator said such deals could create risks under existing financial promotion rules.

Circle enters the sponsorship landscape with a different profile from several earlier crypto brands. The company issues USDC and operates within a growing regulated stablecoin framework in the United States. USDC also aligns with the GENIUS Act framework signed into law last year.

The agreement marks the first principal Premier League shirt sponsorship involving a cryptocurrency financial services company. Previous crypto partnerships mainly focused on sleeve sponsorships, including deals involving OKX and Kraken. Circle’s Chelsea agreement therefore expands crypto branding into one of football’s most visible commercial positions.
